Why

Colombiana Soda wanted to promote their product during the Carnival of Barranquilla 2015 (The second biggest festival in Latinoamerica)

In the middle of a festival full of cultural performances, dancers and singers, we wanted to highlight the Vallenato and the Accordion, traditional rhythm and instrument of the Colombian Caribbean. The challenge was to create an engaging experience that gathers people’s attention through their own folklore.

What is this...

AccordionHERO is an adaptation of the video game GuitarHERO that invites to follow the rhythm of a song by means of a musical instrument. The game and Musical instrument were designed to respond to 6 traditional Colombian songs and rate the given performance to determine a prize.

HOW…

AccordionHERO used Wiring, Arduino and Processing technologies to give life to the re-creation of this famous game in 4 cities of the country (Rionegro, Santa Marta, Valledupar and Barranquilla) during the Carnival. The installation was placed in a mobile caravan, bringing joy to several neighborhoods during 3 months.
