Emma's Digital Book
PROTOTYPE
Why
The American Jewish Historical Society Museum wanted to bring American poet Emma Lazarus back to life, along with her work, and her legacy.
What is this...
This installation explores the story of Emma Lazarus, a fifth-generation American Jew caught in an important turning point in American and Jewish History. The initiative uses primary sources straight from the archive to encourage students to piece together Emma's fascinating story, and to join the ongoing conversation about American identity.
HOW…
Thanks to RFID sensors and video-projection mapping. We created a Digital Book that displays multiple contents relevant to Emma’s timeline and experiences. This main piece is part of Emma’s living room, inviting the user to explore her home and read her story in the way they choose (non-linear narratives/storytelling)
