NICKO & CHIMI

What is this...

These two characters are the pets of two synthetic biology projects. NICKO represents a bacteria capable of magnetically attracting Nickel (Ni), a quality that can be used to filter contaminated water. On the other hand, CHIMI is a combination of biological components that allows the early detection of stress in animals exposed to extreme activities such as circuses, laboratories, sports, etc.This project was developed with the Department of Chemistry and Microbiology of Los Andes University, and represented Colombia in iGEM, 2013 held in Santiago de Chile, Chile.NICKO & CHIMI received the award for best Wiki and project presentation.
