Smithsonian required a streaming platform to distribute all the content they have developed in the last 20 years and its coming productions. This content included documentaries, series, and movies related to their mission: increase and diffusion of knowledge. Most of this high-quality content was not accessible or visible enough to the Smithsonian network

The Smithsonian Channel Plus is a subscription-based streaming service that allows the user to consume media from their home using any TV streaming device. Smithsonian Channel Plus digital streaming service is a model of the next-generation television experience.

Supported on Android, Amazon, Roku, Samsung Tizen, and the Apple family of products, it’s a next-gen television product for the next generation of media hardware. It offers the complete Smithsonian Channel catalog, the entirely 4k content of the former Smithsonian Earth app, and regular injections of new content once it airs, it’s not only a comprehensive content platform but a personalized one as well. By logging in, subscribers can access content where they left, save watchlists, see graphics of progress on watched items, and more.
